It is not an easy task to summarize my 17 years on this planet within a double spaced, single sheet of paper.  There are many ways I could try to entice your university to welcome me.

I could explain that I am a student with broad intellectual interests.  My favorite area of study is mathematics, in which I have successfully completed Advanced Placement Calculus in my junior year, and passed the AP test with a five.  I will be taking Calculus II at the local college in the fall of my senior year.

I could also mention that I am very interested in computers.  I taught myself BASIC programming in seventh grade and have enjoyed programming since.  I currently write in many languages including C, Pascal, and small tidbits of LISP.  I have been in two regional programming contests, finishing third in one and fourth in the other.

I should probably mention other aspects of life in which I am interested.  For example, I enjoy a good round of golf now and then.  Unfortunately, the bad rounds seem more frequent.  I also enjoy sitting in the local cafe with my friends discussing various topics of interest.

I would most likely state my belief that learning is something that sometimes has a better chance of happening outside a classroom than inside.  That is why I try to broaden my horizons by keeping my mind open to new ideas, as well as my eyes and ears.

But I think the most important thing I could mention would be that I am not just a mathematician, nor just a computer programmer.  Although I have worked as a grocery bagger, that does not define the true Christopher Bowron.  Christopher Bowron is not just another Beatles maniac who owns all their compact discs.  No, the true Christopher Bowron is a conglomerate of various ideas and interests, who would be a valuable addition to your university.
